Don't Rock the Boat

Yesterday started out well, went for an early morning swim, which I am enjoying more and more.  Besides the fact that I still squeeze myself into my old suits (this is getting kinda embarassing for me though - it looks like I borrowed my little cousin's suit!!)
but I am being pretty stubborn (more like have no job and no extra money...) about buying all new maternity clothes to wear for like 3 months of my life.  So I've been relying on my sister to send me clothes, what would I do without her and my sister-in-law who have been giving me so much baby stuff!?

Anyways swimming has been getting slowly better, yes better, with growing belly and all, coming off an almost 6 month break from it!  I am able to do about 2500m, of easy swimming, the hardest part is how weak my arms are!  I have lost all arm strength, and I read somewhere on Slowtwitch quite a few moms suggest that the hardest part was getting back their upperbody strength.  SO... to that end I have been for the past couple weeks pulled out my bands and started doing a bit of an arm workout in the basement.  Our basement is slowly looking more and more like a little gym, it's sooooo nice not have our bikes set up in the living room!

After swim I took Pearl out for a long walk in the new trails I found near our place, very beautiful stuff!  I've also been semi-training Pearl to be a hunting dog, not that I have any clue on how to do this, I've just been making up!  But I'm convinced she will be awesome when Colin takes her sometime this fall/winter.

Then I had a nap, these have been more and more regular lately, I just get tired...

Afterwards Colin strapped his dad's old canoe on our car (and I mean old canoe!) it's the funny kind that has a place for you to hook on a motor to the back!  That has got to be the funniest thing ever, a conoe with a motor, pretty red-neck!

We drove 10min to Ghost Lake (where Calgary 70.3 starts) and went for an afternoon paddle, it was so much fun I hadn't been canoeing in years.  I sat up front and paddled when I felt like it, other times I said "I'm pregnant and too tired." It's the best catch-all excuse!

Pearl was kinda good in the boat... but looking for some land to jump ship.  If you look closely you can see my paddle has electrical tape on the end... nice.
Colin was also fishing, with his toes...
Belly at 23 weeks... legs, back, arms and butt are also packing on the baby weight!  Who knew?
