Going to race tomorrow...

Took my bike out this morning. I love when I take the training wheels off (or Colin does) and I feel so much more powerful, it's such a weight difference.

I have decided to do the Vancouver half ironman, it was a hasty decision I made last weekend, inspired by following Colin's live splits at Ironman. I had been running pain free, lately, so have been turning the idea of racing over in my mind. After running with Rhys last Saturday, and discussing the pros and cons of racing either Vancouver half or Calgary 70.3 in the beginning of August, we had decided that Calgary was the better choice, with lots of time to get stronger running legs again. But then I remembered Colin's 10k running race in Calgary and how he was about 3min slower than he should have been. Elevation, no thanks. I am not spending almost $500 for the weekend, and then have a suffer-fest in my breathing and heart rate on the run. Which is very likely.

So I signed up for Vancouver, with just one week until race day! I am glad that I will finally shut up about racing a half, it will either go well or not so well. It's just the run that remains a bit of a mystery.
Race plan =
Swim easy, stretch out my stroke, don't go crazy off the start and find some feet to follow.
Bike medium, push my legs, but not crazy, relax and remember to drink.
Run start easy, test out the legs, not going for any PBs here!

So I'm watching the Tour right now and getting excited / nervous!
